Wallace and gromit

Sorry to anyone who has been checking out my blog and found nothing new of any interest for a long time . In fact nothing new for a long time since last year ! I have been very, very, very busy on a top secret project( that all my friends know about) working on an h.d. anamatic as part of the pitch to get the movie of the first book of 'his dark materials' trilogy by Philip Pullman green lit . The presentation was really top end and if I had a couple of hundred million I would want to make the film . Its early days but things look promising.
Why the Wallace and Gromit storyboards I hear you ask ? Good question ....Both of you ! I drew this as a test to get involved in the movie based on a few pages of early script. I ended up on Corpse Bride , the rest is history .
so there was a loose connection with the two things ....Just about .
any comments appreciated- just to know someone is still looking !!

Nice to see some new work up Dean, these panels look great. I really liked your boards for the Corpse Bride too. I did an internship on the project and chatted to you briefly at the time. Anyway, good to see something new...

Also, one more thing, ...so your artwork is pretty darn perfect in these storyboards, they stay very true to the character models, I have to ask what is your process? Do you have character models next to your table for reference? Do you clean your storyboards or are they just that perfect the first time? The storyboards I've done in the past aren't very clean and I want to improve that, I think using my animation desk with the backlight will help keep consistency from board to board. Anyways, just was curious.

Thanks,
Jerm

These are fun! No need for dialogue- easy to read and absolutely on model as you always seem to be. thanks for the new post. Do you feel like posting some of your roughs as a comparison?

Oooh, the Pullman project sounds VERY intreguing...

Still looking! That's one heck of a test board - very cool. Can't help thinking you ended up on the wrong movie - W&G was just so much more fun.
The CORPSE BRIDE dvd has no commentaries - wonder why?
